PRIESTESS OF THE GODDESS

About the Goddess

Being a Priestess of the Goddess means bringing the Love of the Sacred Feminine back to this Earth. The Goddess is in everything, and has created everything.

She is immense love and pure creation, and she is the life that sings in everything that exists. She is the earth that sustains us, on which seeds sprout and are born. She is our planet in a galaxy, and she is the whole galaxy.

She is the Air we breathe and which gives us life, she is the Wind that blows, the Fire that warms, the Water that nourishes us and that gushes underground, in rivers, in the sea. She is the Sun, the flowers, the Moon, the trees, the animals, the herbs, the fruits, the Stars in the infinite cosmos.

She is the immense, creative, destructive and regenerative force that allows life in the entire Universe.

THE GODDESS IS EVERYWHERE, AND SHE IS WITHIN US

She is our body, the fire of our actions and our dreams, she is the water of our emotions, the air of our breath, the molecules of which we are made of, which are of the same matter as the stars.

For many millennia, human beings have worshipped this loving force of Nature, finding her all around them and within them. Under her guidance, humans are said to have lived in peace for centuries on end, in egalitarian societies in balance with Nature and the universal principles that govern it, where women often had roles as priestesses and clan leaders.

Thanks to the studies of Marija Gimbutas and archaeo-mythology, we know that in the Mediterranean basin, as in Oceania and many other parts of the world, hundreds of extraordinarily similar statuettes have been found: they all represented the Mother Goddess, the great generating force together with her symbols of life.

And with the passing of the centuries, the Goddess became She of a Thousand Names: she was called Isis, Inanna, Astarte, Venus, Diana, Demeter, Persephone, Kali, Lakshmi, Kuan Yin, Danu, Hecate… and a thousand other names.

Glastonbury and the Sacred Feminine

There is a place in Europe where the tradition of the Great Goddess is at the centre of an entire community: it is called Glastonbury, and it is an English village that according to some legends coincides with the Isle of Avalon.

It is here, thanks to many women who, like Kathy Jones, have rediscovered within themselves their Priestesses’ power, that the Glastonbury Goddess Temple was founded about twenty years ago. It is dedicated to studying, bringing to light and disseminating the teachings of the ancient traditions of the Goddess, starting with what we know about the Celtic Goddesses and the Goddess of Avalon.

And it was here that I lived and studied for almost two years, putting myself at the service of the Goddess and preparing to become a Priestess. Through my service at the Glastonbury Goddess Temple, I came to the deep understanding that the Goddess is love and compassion: she is unconditional love, a mother’s love for her children in all its purest aspects, without judgement, expectation, or reproach. In a word, she is pure love.

Today, being a Priestess of the Goddess is a spiritual journey in which the Goddess is at the centre of all life, outside and within us. For me it is a call to bring the Goddess into everyday material reality. It also means rediscovering and integrating the powers of the Sacred Feminine, healing the wounds of patriarchy, opening the door to love and taking responsibility for who we really are and for our desires.

For me it was about following that creative, destructive and regenerative force that presides over Nature and our dreams, so to discover the call of my soul and allowing my whole life to transform to align it with this higher purpose.

Opening myself to love and her beauty, embracing my pain to heal the wounds that came from non-love. Feeling the love of the Goddess opened within me a greater love for life, for what we are and for what we can be. It is love for what I do which continues to accompany my intimate processes of death and rebirth, and it is the same love which leads me to accompany other women on their journey.

What does it mean to be a Priestess of the Goddess in this day and age?

My experiences will not be the same as yours but, thanks to the Goddess path, I realised that we are all able to reconnect with our power because it is already within us: it is that of the Sacred Feminine. And throught my experiences, I have discovered that it is easier to walk the path together. Therefore, I have chosen to offer my experience and knowledge to you, so that you too can rediscover your power.
